Ms Pearl Pwee Siew Lin is a qualified audiologist with 30 over years of work experience in her chosen field. She is a graduate with a Master’s degree in Audiology from the University of Manchester, UK, specialising in Paediatric Habilitation.
Ms Pwee started off her career as an Educational Audiologist at the Canossian School for the hearing impaired in Singapore and thereafter took over as Senior Educational Audiologist and Head of the Audiological Department. The school adopts the Natural Auditory-Oral approach.
Prior to embarking on this audiological path, she did her undergraduate studies in the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore, and then joined the Canossian School as a teacher for 2 years. After her Masters in Audiology course, during the early years, she apprenticed under an experienced overseas UK trained Consultant Educational Audiologist and helped to develop the Audiological Dept at the school, working closely with the Parent Guidance Dept and the School as a whole – in the special school section as well as the mainstream section, as well as with external professionals like ENT doctors, audiologists and therapists, etc to address the needs of the children and their families. In total, she had been with Canossian School for almost 10 years.
She also worked as an Audiological Consultant at the City Hearing Centre for 6 to 7 years, seeing children as well as adults who are often family members and relatives of the children under her care, or friends of their parents. Also, many of the children who have been following up with her over the years are now teenagers or young adults who continue to come to see her for their audiological needs and whenever they need a ‘listening ear’. Thereafter, she joined Pwee Professional Services (S) Pte Ltd as a Consultant Audiologist at Pwee Hearing Centre, now in her 15th to 16th year.
Ms Pwee’s professional experiences include Audiological testing of babies, preschoolers, primary schoolers, teenagers, and adults; hearing device recommendations and follow-up management of Hearing Aids, Cochlear Implants, Bone-Conductor devices, and assistive devices like FM systems, Cros devices, etc. She offers Parent Guidance, Listening Skills, and Rehabilitation Services for children, teenagers, adults, and their families.
